Lifters & Tappets

Valve lifters ride on the camshaft and activate the pushrods to open the valves in the cylinder head. If you’re replacing the camshaft in your engine, it is recommended to replace the lifters, push rods and rocker arms at the same time because these components all mate up during break in. If you only install new lifters with an old cam and pushrods you run the risk of wiping the cam lobes which can put a lot of metal in your engine and possibly destroy it. We recommend replacing the cam, pushrods and rocker arms when replacing valve lifters for the best performance and longevity. Be sure to use plenty of assembly lube and use break-in oil after replacing these components.
